About

The main purpose of this project is to implement a robot that automates the collection process of ticks for researchers and scientists. The risks associated with physically collecting ticks include potential transmission of life threatening diseases and the possibility of heat exhaustion or heat stroke in especially warmer climates since the tick collection takes hours on end. The robot will collect ticks by dragging a cloth across grass, remove the ticks using a collection system, and store the ticks in a containment unit for easy removal and examination. The robot will operate in areas of high concentration of ticks while being monitored and controlled by a user to decide upon a path for the robot. In doing so, this will reduce the risk of transmitted diseases and heat exhaustion from venturing into the field since the user will no longer need to physically collect ticks, instead he will operate the robot from a safe distance using a remote controller to operate the robot.  The remote controller will allow the user to control the movement and the collection process of the robot. The intention with the final product is that it be a safer, easier, and more reliable method of tick collection to be utilized by the user.
